Do you remember where you were on Y2K? I do, but google satellite images don’t.
Also, I remember I was wearing my black onyx high school ring. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the great vacuum of space that sucked it up for $1.25. All that aside, looks like Y2K was the “breather” year to 1999. So why the party Prince? Perhaps it was because about half of the LEO satellites launched that year were launched by Russia and orbit the earth Sun-Synchronously. Our equator is looking almost as nice as this chart that shows how we stack up with the rest of the world in the total# of LEO satellite launches. Yes, that was a reverse hashtag, and yes, LEO satellite launches by all countries are in Red (no pun intended).
